Will The Super Sonics Remain In Seattle?
By Jill Woods
The sale of the Super Sonics was approved on Tuesday by the NBA owners, the team will belong to a group whose leader is Clay Bennett and the main idea of the deal is to keep the team in Seattle.

On July 18th, Bennett's group purchased the Super Sonics and WNBA Storm from the Club of Seattle, led by Starbucks chairman Howard Schultz, for the amount of $350 million. The arrangement sowed the doubt about the team being displaced to Oklahoma City, but the head of the group is trying to get a new arena in Seattle, but all depends on getting the new building, and if he can stay focus on it.

The group will take the control of the Sonics as soon as the transaction is completed, most likely next Tuesday. As mentioned before, the objective is to keep the Super Sonics in Seattle, but an inconvenience emerged when David Stern the NBA commissioner said

he realized that Seattle was not very happy with the idea of having the NBA there, after a trip he did to Washington, due to a lack of support from the lawmakers.

While Stern is trying to find the positive side of this, Schultz has threatened to move or sell the team after the 2010 season without a new or renovated arena. Bennett and Stern, both think that Seattle is a really good option, and they have all the confidence that they will make a good business there therefore; it is a good reason to spend the time and the money on the deal.
