Bobcat’s Low Record Will Take Money Out Of Jordan’s Pocket By Cindy Ferguson The Bobcats are 19-33 this season and are currently seeded last in their division and the fourth worst of their conference. Mailings will be sent out later this week to ticket holders on behalf of Jordan affirming the teams bad record and stating that he has been given full control of the personnel decisions to be made from here on out.
"As excited as I am about the future, if you know anything about me, you know how much I hate to lose -- and I speak for all the owners in that regard," wrote Jordan, the team's managing member of basketball operations. "But we are able to temper this disappointment with thoughts of our youth and inexperience, and the idea that we will continue to improve -- hopefully, more quickly than even we expect. "With that said, we remain committed to our plan to grow the franchise through the draft and the addition of key free agents."
This is the first time that he has been given full say-so regarding staff and team player decisions since he acquired his minority stake last June. He also stressed out the importance of spending whatever needed to contract the best talent money can buy during the off season.
Jordan has stayed behind the scenes at all times and this is the first time in nine months that he has made public announcements. The only worry amongst some is the fact that Bob Johnson, majority owner, will not be willing to pay out the adequate amount
to make the team competitive. At the present time the Bobcats payroll is the lowest in the NBA.
