Beware The Knee-jerk Reactions
Beware The Knee-Jerk Reactions
Relax everybody, take a big step back away from your fantasy teams and look at the reality of what is going on. Its only week 2, it is not the final 3 weeks of the season where you are battling or a playoff spot or a bye week. You don’t even have to worry about teams resting players for upcoming playoff games at this point. What you have is 2 weeks of the NFL season locked up and a lot of questions that cannot be answered. Ladainian Tomlinson will rush for more than 990 yards, which is his current projection after 2 weeks of play. Domanick Davis, health provided, is not an 850 yard guy this year. Believe it or not, Peyton Manning is not going to stick you with 2 fantasy points like he did in many leagues during week 2.

Enough with the knee-jerk reactions, after only 2 weeks of regular season play. Just like every season, we will have a few players on the extreme of greatness for their first time and players that were complete busts for most

or all of the season. For the most part, though, you got a majority of the league that will put up the same numbers after 16 weeks that they always do.

My advice for the first 4 weeks of the season is simple. If you have a stud, start him. From that point, play the match-ups based on where your players are ranked. If recent situations truly warrant lineup changes or waiver moves, don’t be afraid to make the moves. Just be careful to not make any hasty moves simply because a player is off to a slow start. Many times, players or teams come up against adversaries that are determined to make a statement early in the season. Many times, this works. Unfortunately, for many owners, these games cause team owners to abandon or trade players that would have performed well for them during the rest of the season. The most common time for these mistakes is during the first 3 weeks of the season. You see a player struggle, and you rush to move him off of your team. You see a player go wild, and you are trying to trade players of more value to get this player.

Don’t find yourself in these situations. Draft you team with the best possible information available to you. I think you will find the information at www.sportsoutlaw.com more than adequate for this task. Once you have drafted your elite team, be very careful in the first 2-4 weeks in regards to player moves. Don’t be the team in your league that gave up on a player too early, but at the same time, don’t be the team that was scared to take advantage of the team over that did give up on a player too early.
